Patchwork #GetInvolved2016 with Zac Goldsmith MP

I had the pleasure of attending a campaign training session with Zac Goldsmith MP organised by the Patchwork Foundation as part of their #GetInvolved2016 series of events. As I had already met Sadiq Khan MP at the Dare to Dream launch in November last year, it seemed logical to engage with another London mayoral election candidate with whom I not yet had the chance.
I've never been to any Conservative events, so it was interesting to see what things would be like. Upon entry into the tricky to find building for the Redbridge Chapter... A picture of Margaret Thatcher adorning the centre of the wall at the front of the room -  I was cracking up at how quintessentially Tory-esque it all was 
Campaigning 101
The most important person in the room, as we were repeatedly reminded was Nathan Parsad, Zac's Campaign Manager.
Air Politics: this is media - the stuff that we get from the internet newspapers, TV and radio etc
Ground Politics: door-to-door canvassing, holding events or debating in hustings

Personal aspiration and individualism
Light debate and half-finished disagreement over the environment and the EU.
Councillors party locally through Redbridge Conservatives. Compassion

The atmosphere unlike any other personal relationships over networking
